A regular “About Me” section is normally filled with stories about how well the person you read about is doing in whatever he/she is doing.
But in the making-money-online niche people mostly do the opposite and tout about how bad their life was crawling back from devastation with the help of The Internet.
Unfortunately, I do not have such stories to bring you to tears. For me sleeping with four people in a small room as a child has never bothered me.
But before I move on with my personal story I want to thank you for visiting me and want to let you know you will find a link to a pdf “How To Make The best Headlines For More Traffic [and sales]” at the end of this page.
If you came here trough that document, well, even better. I hope you find value in the headline templates, or hacks so you will.
On with the the story. Both my parents grew up during world war-II. And I, born after the war, lived in a simple little house like everybody at that time in my neighbourhood in Holland. It was how it was and I didn’t give it any thought.
So did my three older brothers and one sister.
There was enough money to keep the wolf from the door. But at times we had to live on borrowed money.
As an adult, sure I do know times I only had a few hundreds of dollars to spend in a month, but I never had to live in a box for longer times.
Even the small rooms I lived in that were about the size of a carton box have never bothered me. My world was as big as the books I read, no matter how small the room was.
Only a brief period -a few days- during the winter living in Paris France I had to spend time in the snow. With literally only 10 dollars on me, wandering in the streets, sleeping in trains were hard moments. The nights were cold: clochards laying on the ground froze literally to dead.
I’ve had about 25 to 30 different jobs. No joke. From washing milk bottles and being a courier to c++ programmer. From car mechanic in The Hague Holland to patisserie cook in Bol&Bois in Paris. I even have been a special model for Grolsch a blue moon.
One Day You Don’t Drink Beer, But Grols
But not suited for any job that required me to work in groups of people, all my efforts as employee ended up in me going away or being fired.
On the other hand, I could tout my horn about some things that did made me lots of money but am not going to.
Because I would also have to tell you about the pursuit trying to figure out the holy grail of stock-analyzing while in the end losing money. And only to find out the truth about that stupid “holy grail” everybody wants to know about.
(Yes I found it in the end. It took me years. And it did not help me a bit to overcome the real reason why it is so effing difficult to making money in stock markets. In fact, it is the exact opposite of what keeps people from succeeding in the making money online niche … That’s quite cryptic right. If you want to know the answer on both questions you can ask me here)
Another blue moon I worked as a trainee at an advertising company in Bruxelles around the same time I was a starting journalist in Amsterdam for the famous Readers Digest.
I have always loved advertising in general. But without prior education in advertising nor direct marketing I could not keep that job. This was before the internet as we know it existed.
At some point as a starting offline entrepreneur I handcrafted like 100 shell-shaped beauty boxes for selling and displaying a women defending product.
Fury Self Defence
It was called Fury Zelfverdediging. (“Fury” is the name I gave it and “Zelfverdediging” is Dutch for defending yourself) It was smell-defence instead of self-defence.
By sprinkling a very unpleasant smelly substance on your clothes, you could keep bad guys at a distance. Neutralizer was included in the package to get rid of the rotten egg smell. It even got mentioned in a few newspapers.
Made all the advertising, displaying, and selling to drugstores myself. I was really proud of it. Even though it failed because people didn’t like the keeping-a-raper-at-a-distance-bad-scent-defend-mechanism. The idea was to weird and new for Holland.
Also the selling of the famous ‘invisible gloves’ did not stick. What? Invisible gloves? Yes it is a real product. And I sold quite a few boxes as matter of fact. Even then I liked the process of coming up with a name and writing texts the most. Designing a logo making a new adventure I found more appealing than running around with the product.
After a year I bumped the project and jumped on a totally different market: Ionisers. You see in that period I was ‘into Bhagwan searching for myself’ and I wore red clothes because of that. (see picture above for read clothes). Ionized relaxing air -comparing with standing next to a waterfall- to make people feel good, was the newest upcoming trend I heard of.
Handy as I am, I began to make these ionizing air containers with a vent and ionizing electronica myself at home and I started to sell ‘relaxing mountain air out of a box’. I literally was selling air with a good story. Still sold about 25 of them.
But being me, and all over the place all the time, it was only for a year. My father kept one of the home brew boxes we made together, and I moved on to a new project. (And to a new maharishi also.) There are still big compagnies making good money with ionizers.
Handcrafted Ioniser, The Secret Is Inside.
I like working with my hands. I even have spend three years renovating my own house after I got married. I did not know shit about building but I just dived into it like I always approach my adventures.
Like my own house: by demolishing and building every day, 7 days a week, breaking walls, welding gas- and water pipes, fixing electrical wiring, three years in a row, I became skilled. And if you live through the dust, heavy labour and argumenting with your wife and not get divorced, you also build a pretty solid relationship.
I like to add that internet marketing is the same. I mean the building part, put yourself out there. Just go for it. Work your ass off until it is ‘an automated machine’!
A few years ago when entering ‘The Internet’ I decided to build ‘a half automated internet machine’ so to speak. Because I still like to work with my hands I merged online- and offline working from home in a very common way.
Repairing Bike Till Ok Selling It On Internet When Ok
I first revamped my garden for 3 months, build a site just for showing I am a real person.
And then I started to buy old bikes, repair and sell them with profit. A simple concept. Of Course you need some tools.
The site for my bikes just sits there doing nothing. It’s purpose is showing who I am, for people who like to know who’s selling.
Looking back, it is not strange at all I ended up writing this page as a starting marketer. But this time selling only digital products. It is something I like. I like the hustling, selling -favourably making everything myself using whatever tools come in handy.
There are a lot of digital tools to build your online asset with. I am going to review them and use them. How cool is that reviewing stuff you like. The kicker of the digital business is that you have eventually a running machine and recurring income.
But you have some skills to learn first. So do not forget to look into my ebook on “How To Make The best Headlines For More Traffic [and sales]” at the end of this page. There is a tool I will guide you to, to check if your headline is crafted well or not. And together with the templates you will crank out attractive ones.
How I Ended Up Doing Internet Marketing Anyway Leaving Me Nearly Dead Before Starting
I have a related story to tell about how the whole internet hit me.
While it mostly passed me by in my early years, I will do this in lieu of the sad story where I am down and out (which I was) and rose above myself (what I did).
I bumped onto internet marketing / working from home business by accident. It rather found me than I was looking to become a part of it.
Once upon a time, I got one big spammy looking email. It was sent by my son. And I said to myself “no this can’t be the truth.”. “This is impossible.”. Why was he sending me this? Because I’m a houseman?
I am. I am taking care of the children, doing the cooking, washing the clothes and nurturing the kids. Meanwhile I did also do other stuff, like learning to be an orthomolecular nutrition expert because it interests me. In fact it is of non importance .
Even that I made real money with buying and selling houses as a private investor while being that same houseman keeping the wolf from the door big time, is of no importance.
I concentrate on the internet marketing niche; that does make me the typical working from home houseman. It is only a few 1000 dollar but growing.
The kids … they are also growing. My daughter is still living at home.
Back to the story: I got this mail. I got it from my son. And it was about the „housewife thing”. Everybody knows „the housewife thing” and her “making millions from home” story.
I thought he wanted to help me (in a really weird and stupid way in my opinion: c’mon making money on the internet. What a load of crap! Right?).
But here’s the thing: my son is very smart. He is at the Technical University doing Geo Engineering. And I remember thinking “what if he found something I just don’t know yet? Perhaps it’s true”. Why does this smart guy, my own son, sends me this?
The forwarded mail was too stupid for words: a tabloid like picture and huge headline about an “overnight millionaire”. While noticing, I still kept on reading because, well, I like sales talk, but moreover my son sent this. What if he asked “did you read it?” And I had to say: “sorry big guy it’s just plain stupid”.
I read on. The headline was intriguing, but waaayy over the top. So while knowing it is stupid, couldn’t be done, couldn’t be true. Yet I liked to believe it could be done.
You know that feeling? Somewhere you want it to be the truth? What if? I trust my son. He sent me this. Thus I read on. Imagine being me, reading this stupid message, being slowly pumped up by the words spoken about how to get rich in no time doing hardly any work at all (yeah right).
And while knowing it couldn’t be done I got excited by it, and found myself paying 27 bucks for my first one-click adventure!
And of course it was stupid, but not only that: I had no clue what hit me.
I went through a maze of pages and upsells I had never seen before ending up with hold your breath …One Single Page. With Three Links! That Was All. No videos, no pdf, no nothing and no clue where to go. I had no one to contact since I didn’t even really know what I paid for. Of course I had not saved any of the links I clicked. I could not track my steps back. „What just happened?” I asked myself.
From that day on I documented what I did, because nevertheless the bad impression I got, I was still drawn into this weird online world. Six months later I decided to ask my son about the email he sent me. He was surprised.
“What are you talking about. I did not”, he said. “But a while ago it seems I was unknowingly sending out spam.”.
We both had a laugh about it. But still, it had changed my life completely. And one thing was made clear from the beginning: It is all about trust! I’ve read that mail because I believe my son has the right intentions.
And even he did not sent the mail -what I did not know then- the thought it was his mail was enough to start my adventure.
Being three years beyond this point, I know I do not want to be “that marketer” offering rubbish. So I will tell you upfront what to expect and give you great value for your money if you should ever buy anything through me.
In the meantime I have bought so much stuff it is not even funny anymore, but I finally figured out what was wrong and I started, got overwhelmed overtime having different websites and to much going on at the same time. Some sites were not as I had pictured when starting, some got hacked.
Multiple times I wanted to throw my Mac -and myself- out the window.
It was so frustrating. Especially if you do everything yourself. I felt I had to be Superman to accomplish the list of 1001 things to do. Yes. Multiple times I wanted to give up. But every time I said: NO! … No, not this time. I am not firing myself. I can’t be fired. Stand up, dust yourself off, and take action! Your life is easy. You’re going to make this work no matter what!
Nearly at the end of my spending capacity (I will keep for myself how much that was) I met Dean Holland. I took a leap of faith and concentrated very hard on my first steps.
After implementing what I learned with his close to ready-made-for-you system, I finally crossed the zero profit level and made my first sale online.
Now a year beyond this point, I decided to start this review blog. I got acquainted with quite a lot of marketers and “churned out” my first pdf. In this case, there is nothing to buy. This headline document is free of charge. And even the sources I point to are free to start with.
It was originally a bunch of unorganized information just for me to use: the result of the hoarding of information. And it is only a tiny part of what I have assembled over time, of what I consider to be valuable info.
You will find the link here below. I hope you’ll enjoy reading,
(Unfortunately this book link -under the PS- is out of order and the book in revision. I leave it here for myself as a reminder.
You see, if you start a blog and use link trackers then at some point you will have hundreds to even thousands links to keep track of. To find them back, while also using multiple link tracking programs is a bit tricky.
So I just leave it here 🙂
To be safe.)
